Neiman Marcus’ Annual Blogger Brunch Featuring this Holiday Season’s Beauty Must Haves

November and December are my favorite months of the year. I start feeling the holiday cheer in the air. It’s when Christmas music starts being played on the radio, holiday outfits takeover store mannequins and the holiday parties begin.

This weekend I attended my first holiday brunch of the season – the annual beauty blogger brunch inside Mariposa Café at Neiman Marcus on the Vegas Strip. The yearly soiree gives us a sneak peek into the most popular beauty buys for the holidays. I’m always excited to see fabulous products from some of my favorite beauty brands and this year, it was sort of a blogger reunion, a chance to see some of my favorite local ladies many whom I haven’t seen in a while.

Here’s a quick rundown of my favorites!

Tom Ford Boy and Girl Lip Collection is a limited collection of gorgeous shades named after women and men Tom Ford truly admires. These colors come in matte, creme and metallic finishes that can be worn alone or together.

YSL lip stains and lip oils are full of pigment and non-drying. My favorite color for the season is #1 Tatouage Couture, as pictured below.

Laura Mercier Flawless Rose Oil is fast-absorbing and lightweight with intense hydration power. What a great stocking stuffer gift!

Kiehls and Fresh sleep masks are the next big thing in masks. Much easier to apply because you only apply at night for ultimate moisturization, brightening and firming.

Jo Malone holiday fragrance gift sets are all about color and they are so delectable! My favorite scent is the peony and blush suede.

John Hardy Dragons, stones and crystals, oh my! John Hardy’s inspiration for this line was the love story of the dragons and stones. I personally believe in the power and energies of crystals. It has been said to wear the dragon bracelets facing outward to protect yourself from negative energy and wear them inward when you want to attract positive energy.

Atelier Cologne Only available in Nolita in NYC and Champs-Élysées in Paris, this brand has a love story of its own. Curated by Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel who fell in love while creating the collection.

Oribe dry shampoo not only smells divine but it doesn’t leave the white residue as many other dry shampoos do. As a new mom, I rely on dry shampoo now more than ever…adding this one to my Xmas wish list!

Lastly, I’m overdue for a new winter scent and I think I finally found the one, Chanel Gabrielle. It reminds me of my favorite summer scent, Armani Si. What’s your favorite scent right now?

Head over to Neiman Marcus to check out the numerous holiday beauty gift options for the wifey, girlfriend and mom. She won’t be disappointed. Happy Holidays!

Top 10 Fall Fashion Trends

This may be my favorite fall season ever! With leather, digital prints and every shade of green on trend for this fall, I couldn’t be more excited for the temperatures to start dropping. Thanks to Neiman Marcus and fashion director Ken Downing who gave us a sneak peek of what’s to come, I now get to share them with all of you.

  1. Borrowed from the Boys: Menswear influences tailor-made for us! So when you’re in a bit of a masculine mood for tweed jackets and cardigans, the key here is to mix it up with ultra feminine accessories, heels and red lips of course.
  2. The Jacket: It’s all about making a statement with a fabulous jacket. More about style than function, this fall, jackets will come in so many textures to choose from.  Leather, tweed, shearling, oh my!
  3. Navy, the New Neutral: A great substitute for black, navy is  also great paired with ivories and beiges as well as with bold colors. I loved the way they paired it with a pair of metallic gold pants (pictured).
  4. The Leather Leg: We’ve already seen some celebrities rocking this look in the middle of summer.  I already have my faux leather pair but will have to wait for the temps to go below 90 degrees to put these babies on.
  5. Digital Prints: Perhaps my favorite fall fashion trend is the digital print dress.  A more modern and youthful way to wear prints, I  loved the Skaist Taylor Printed Chiffon Gown. Gorgeous!
  6. Mixed Greens: I am loving the “going green” look.  Green in combo or solo, I love it with beiges and golds.
  7. The Smoking Slipper: As some of you may know, I’m not a big fan of flats. I rarely wear them because I’m short so when I do, I tend to feel like a 12-yr old. However, the Prada Glitter Logo ones I saw today may change my mind. But then I came across these amazing Charlotte Olympia leopard print ankle boots (pictured) that took my breath away, as leopard print always does. I have yet to own to try to walk in any no-heel shoes or boots. Yet, my dear friend Mr. Giuseppe Zanotti stole the shoe show with these Lady Gaga-ish studded no-heel ankle boots (pictured).
  8. Statement Bag: It’s time for my bag to make a statement.  This Fall, details, color and size take a front seat.
  9. Brooches: This jewelry piece definitely make a bold fashion statement.  They can be worn on a cardigan or scarf. I sometimes wear mine as pendants.
  10. The Fall Face: Cherry on the lips and nails that is. I must admit, I like cherry more than red.  Maybe I should write a separate beauty blog about this for fall.

Here’s to a flawless fall fashion season!

When Science + Skincare Come Together, It’s a Beautiful Thing

The “one size fits all” approach in the cosmetic industry is almost unheard of because we believe that our skin has specific individual needs, because we are all unique right? Perhaps this is why niche marketing is booming.  The more niche, the more innovative.  There are entire product lines catering to every problem we can imagine – oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, combination skin, aging skin, you get the picture.

NOT!  At a recent beauty breakfast session at Neiman Marcus at The Fashion Show Mall, world-renowned clinical and cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Stuart Kaplan, addressed quite the opposite.  He believes that skin is skin and that we all age the exact same way.  A New York transplant, Dr. Kaplan has been treating his patients in his private practice in Beverly Hills for the past 25 years and has celebrity clients including Marisa Tomei, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin Egglesfield (my fave), Holly Robinson Peete, Emmy Rossum and Maroon 5 members (none of whom are paid spokespersons).

Dr. Kaplan has spent years researching and has pioneered the latest findings on the three causes of skin aging:

1.     Chronologic Aging

2.     Environmental Damage

3.     Natural Hormonal Progression

His new line, KAPLAN MD, which is available at Neiman Marcus, features only the best 100% clinically tested ingredients in a product line that is formulated for men and women of all ethnicities and ages.

If you’re tired of having to change your products every season, when you’re traveling or moving to a new city where the weather is drastically different, perhaps you should consider trying KAPLAN MD.  Added perk: you can also share with your boyfriend or hubby! I will be trying out the Daily Moisture SPF 30 Concentrate and the Lip 20 Ultra Hydrating Balm, stay tuned for a product review.

Vegas Gets a Sneak Peek into Fall Beauty with Neiman Marcus’ Preview Party

In this city of Sin, there are countless events happening every week. However, most of them cater to 24-hour party goers and equal opportunity event hoppers. Needless to say, there are ample pickings of parties and soirees to choose from in this town.  However, every once in a while, there’s an event that makes me want to read through the invite twice. Usually, a pretty invite with luxury brand names written across the masthead is an easy hook for me.

Invited by my friend and fashion blogger, Laura Coronado of Lollieshopping, the Fall Beauty Preview Party at Neiman Marcus was not to be missed.  She co-hosted the event along with fellow fashionista, stylist and blogger Christie Moeller.

Upon entry into Neiman Marcus at the Fashion Show Mall, I was greeted by a hostess with the mostess, literally.  She gave me a gift bag and a beauty card for a chance to win a beautiful beauty basket.  With my pomegranate martini in hand, I was ready to go on my beauty station tour. I visited the Fragrance, Nail, Hair, Skincare and Color areas to discover and be introduced to Laura’s and Christie’s “favorite beauty picks.”

My favorite beauty pick of the night was the Chanel nail polish in Peridot, one of the new fabulous colors from their 2011 Autumn Collection.

While I consider myself an event veteran, having attended events for more than a decade now, I’ve come to appreciate those that impressively bring together a select group of people, a close-knit group of industry movers and shakers and Vegas insiders.  Last night was one of those nights.

Cheers to the following ladies that came out to revel in all things beauty! Special thanks to Laura and Christie who made it all happen!
