A Little Eyelash Magic!

Every once in a while I come across a product that’s a bit magical.  I only have a handful and I’ll write a blog about those soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to share with you a little bit of eyelash magic in a tube.  And no, it’s not mascara!
Ready to Wear Lash Extension is a treatment made up of dry cellulose fibers that darken, lengthen and add volume to your lashes. There are many reviews out there that give this product a low rating because it’s not for everyone. If you don’t use it correctly, you won’t get the best or desired results – so try to follow the instructions carefully or do I what I do.
Here’s my method:
1.      I first curl my lashes.
2.      Apply one coat of my favorite mascara.
3.      Apply one coat of Ready to Wear Lash Extension.
4.      Apply second coat of mascara to seal the fibers in.
I then repeat these steps until I get my desired look.  In this picture below, I applied two coats of Ready to Wear Lash Extension along with two coats of mascara. Try to avoid getting the tiny fibers inside your eyes and brush away the ones that fall onto cheeks.  Here’s the result for my “day” look at the office.  What do you think?

Launching in Las Vegas: Topshop Make Up Collection

I was so excited to learn that Topshop is opening a store at the Fashion Show Mall next month to be exact! I’ve been lucky enough to visit the only other two stores in the U.S, the New York and Chicago locations. What’s even more exciting is that the Vegas store will also carry the Topshop makeup collection. Thank you dear Sir Philip Green.

Topshop’s PR team sent me samples of some of the collections’ most popular picks, from trend driven shades to coveted must-haves, I’m excited to give you a sneak peek.  Believe me, you’re going to want more!

Topshop Nails, $10

Fast drying, extra long wear with lasting glossy wet look finish. I’m looking forward to wearing some of these bright and metallic shades poolside at Red Rock this summer!

L to R: Pool Party, Bees Knees, Hyperreal

Topshop Eye Crayon, $12

I am absolutely in love with Eye Crayon! It’s a chunky eye shadow pencil with glitter for shading, lining and defining eyes. I personally love it to add a little twist to smoky eyes, perfect for a night out at the Lady Silvia or 1 Oak.

Eye crayon in Black Jack

Topshop Cheeks, $10

This is a lightweight cream to powder blush which melts into the skin leaving a luminous finish. Don’t fret, it’s brighter than it looks and spot on for spring.

Blush in Pinch

Needless to say, the Topshop makeup tickled my fancy indeed.  Make sure to stop by the store to see the entire collection once they officially open their doors in Sin City on March 8th!

Vegas Gets a Sneak Peek into Fall Beauty with Neiman Marcus’ Preview Party

In this city of Sin, there are countless events happening every week. However, most of them cater to 24-hour party goers and equal opportunity event hoppers. Needless to say, there are ample pickings of parties and soirees to choose from in this town.  However, every once in a while, there’s an event that makes me want to read through the invite twice. Usually, a pretty invite with luxury brand names written across the masthead is an easy hook for me.

Invited by my friend and fashion blogger, Laura Coronado of Lollieshopping, the Fall Beauty Preview Party at Neiman Marcus was not to be missed.  She co-hosted the event along with fellow fashionista, stylist and blogger Christie Moeller.

Upon entry into Neiman Marcus at the Fashion Show Mall, I was greeted by a hostess with the mostess, literally.  She gave me a gift bag and a beauty card for a chance to win a beautiful beauty basket.  With my pomegranate martini in hand, I was ready to go on my beauty station tour. I visited the Fragrance, Nail, Hair, Skincare and Color areas to discover and be introduced to Laura’s and Christie’s “favorite beauty picks.”

My favorite beauty pick of the night was the Chanel nail polish in Peridot, one of the new fabulous colors from their 2011 Autumn Collection.

While I consider myself an event veteran, having attended events for more than a decade now, I’ve come to appreciate those that impressively bring together a select group of people, a close-knit group of industry movers and shakers and Vegas insiders.  Last night was one of those nights.

Cheers to the following ladies that came out to revel in all things beauty! Special thanks to Laura and Christie who made it all happen!

What’s in my makeup bag?

This is my first contributor post so I’d figured I’d start by giving you more than a sneak peek into my makeup bag!  I like to keep my beauty look very chic but the application process very simple. Here goes. I start off every day with using my Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF 15. I have been using this moisturizer for about three years now and it works great with my dry skin and the oil-free formula does not make my skin feel greasy or cause breakouts. I then use Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer in Sand to cover any blemishes and under eye dark circles. Then for some color, I use Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Powder foundation in Medium Sandy Beige applied with MAC kabuki brush #182. On to the lashes, I use my Shu Uemura eyelash curler (which I just heard was discontinued so I will soon be on the search for a new eyelash curler that works well with my stubborn eyelashes!) and Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara in Extreme Black. I finish my look with CoverGirl Liquilineblast in Black which makes a super smooth sleek black line on my top lid – making my eyes look brighter and bigger (also an Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner). The pencil also has a rubber side to smudge the liner for a more dramatic look. On my lips, I use Blistex DCT lip balm to keep my lips conditioned and smooch-soft!

Please let me know what’s in your makeup bag and if we share any products in common! Any suggestions on a good eyelash curler are welcome!

My Eye on Beauty

I still remember when I was in grammar school in NJ we were asked to write down on a piece of paper what we wanted to be when we grew up. Then those papers full of our grade school dreams were locked away in a time capsule.  I fondly recall writing down “cosmetologist.” Fast forward years later, many of you may know that I did not follow that schoolgirl dream of mine but I can say that I always managed to surround myself with makeup.  Personally, I’ve always loved being the first to discover the latest and then pass along those tips to my friends and family.  Professionally, I came very close to the world of cosmetology, working with some of the most well-known brands and alongside those geniuses behind-the-beauty-scenes.  Now, I’m excited to share everything I’ve learned to date and continue learning with you through product reviews, the latest beauty news and occasional guest contributions.

This is my introductory post, so I ask you to please share your thoughts, opinions and suggestions as to what you would like to see here.  Please make sure to sign up to receive my posts in your inbox.

 Thank you beauties!
