Here’s my Q&A with Mr. Paves.
MBC: Thank you for debunking so many beauty myths! Can you explain this one? When you wash your hair with (clarifying) shampoo and it squeaks – is it because it’s clean or stripped?
Ken: Pretty much stripped. I am not a huge fan of clarifying shampoo, except in very specific (excessive) situations. When your hair squeaks it is so clean that there are no natural oils to soften and buffer that squeaky sound. It’s like finger nails on a chalk board to me. Water alone is an amazing emulsifier….water alone has eroded beaches and mountains, it can break down your natural oils and a little styling product…add in a “regular” shampoo and your good. Quiet hair is good!!!
MBC: You’ve accomplished so much, work, philanthropy, etc. what’s next?
Ken: Thank you for recognizing that. I hope to spread the voice of my book You Are Beautiful and help empower women around the world. I am working on some new products and projects that will all speak the same voice and ultimately allow me to give back even more!
MBC: You’ve worked with numerous celebrities, are there any ones in particular that you would like to work with but haven’t had a chance to yet?
Ken: I have actually worked with everyone I had ever hoped for. Lady Ga Ga was the artist I had hoped to work with, and I had the honor of working with her. I think she is genius and one of the most inspiring artist I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She takes “theatre” and brings it to life! I still love waiting to see what she is going to do next!
MBC: Any plans for another salon in Las Vegas?
Ken: Not at the moment, but I do love Vegas!
MBC: Any plans for your own beauty talk show?
Ken: I would love that, let’s put it out in the universe!!
Here’s to hoping I catch Ken next time he comes to Vegas! In the meantime, you can follow him on his wonderful journey on Facebook and Twitter!
