Straight Talk on Straight Teeth: The Beauty of a Perfect Smile with Invisalign

photo

I wasn’t one of the lucky ones born with naturally straight teeth. For an entire year and a half of my life, I tried to justify to myself that my braces fell into that “Things You Hate to Do but are Good For You” bucket. So for about 183 days of my life, I woke up every morning feeling uncomfortable. I felt my braces were too big for my mouth, I was becoming anti-social and I just wasn’t feeling like myself. Nevertheless, I pushed myself into thinking one day, this would all be worth it. And it sure was.

A couple of weeks ago I attended an Invisalign House Party hosted by Dr. Wirig and Rock Star Mom Blogger Stefanie Van Aken. The theme was “Straight Talk on Straight Teeth.” I learned so much more about Invisalign.  It’s an amazing alternative to braces and they even have Invisalign Teen which is available to teens and preteens. Invisalign Teen is just as effective as traditional wire and bracket braces and can correct the most common teeth straightening issues — from severe cases to more minor, cosmetic adjustments. Here’s a great infographic, Straight Talk: Smart Path to Straight Teeth – it outlines an easy path for Invisalign-inquiring parents. I know that if Invisalign was available back when I had braces, I would’ve spared myself the agony. Don’t get me wrong, some people love their braces and embrace them, I wasn’t one of those people. I would’ve preferred having a set of clear custom made aligners that would’ve allowed me to continue brushing and flossing my teeth as I normally would have.

Ever since I had braces I’ve become obsessed with a perfect smile. Now, in my thirties, my teeth have shifted slightly and I’ve been thinking of getting Invisalign to get them back perfectly straight.  This was the perfect opportunity to learn more about the latest on Invisalign while having a discussion among other blogger friends. There’s a myth that Invisalign can only treat minor or cosmetic issues, when in fact Invisalign effectively treats a wide variety of orthodontic issues including severe bite issues. From underbite to crossbite, deepbite to overbite and overly crowded to widely spaced, advancements to Invisalign’s patented technology continues to increase the complexity of issues that can be treated. In addition, after learning that Invisalign recently upgraded to a more comfortable and more effective plastic material, I am more than ready to take the next step. Sponsored Post: Glasses are Both Functional and Fashionable, So Make Them Your Beauty Accessory!

I believe glasses are a beauty and fashion statement. So finding the right pair that suits your face is like scoring the perfect shade of red lipstick. However, if you’re like me, shopping for a new pair of glasses isn’t nearly as fun as shopping for a new pair of shoes, let’s be real. In my opinion, it all comes down to the “experience.” I’ve been wearing glasses for years and not one experience was memorable. The overwhelming options, payments plans and exams is more like something I have to do rather than something I want to do. Until now. I came across a great online resource — glasses.com. This site makes the experience of shopping for glasses so easy, fun and convenient. It always helps when the website is also pretty to look at and easy to navigate. They have a bevy of brands I love such as Derek Lam, Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson, BCBG MAXAZRIA and many more!

Here are the TOP 3 features to use:

1. Virtual Frame Match: although I have a good idea of the style of frames best suits me, I was curious to see what my “matches” were. Based on the quick questions, I was able to see which brands offer the style I was looking for.

2. Virtual Try-on: This fun feature gives you a great visual interpretation of how your “matches” can look on you!

3. Free At-Home Try-On: Still can’t decide? Hassle-free shopping with this great feature which gives you seven days to try on up to five different frames before placing an order. And it’s free shipping both ways.
