Creating & Cultivating in Culver City: A Beauty and Fashion Blogger’s Dream

Only in LA can you meet your favorite bloggers in one location all in one day. In addition, I had the opportunity to learn how these entrepreneurial women got their start and how they’ve turned blogging into a business. The Create + Cultivate experience was epic, with photo opportunities everywhere, pop-up shops and a beauty bar courtesy of Glamsquad.

Overall, what I took away from the panel-packed event was that you have to treat your blog as a business, be passionate and understand that we (bloggers) are all growing together. Learning how to evolve your blog was also another very interesting panel topic. Many bloggers in attendance were considering larger collaborations such as capsule collections for fashion brands. Understanding analytics was also a huge focus area as were conversations about how to maintain authenticity. Yes, there was even a discussion about how to handle haters on social media.  I took so much from understanding how these bloggers came to be where they are now, their tipping points, their journeys – all very motivational!

Here are some inspirational highlights from Leslie Blodgett, founder of Bare Escentuals:

Leslie is celebrating her 20-year anniversary this year and she shared her story with us. Her philosophy has always been and will continue to be connecting with women. Leslie is inspired by reading books, new and old, doing things that make her nervous like public speaking. Although I would never expect it, she said she meditated the night before because she was anxious about speaking at the event. Overall, her mantra is do things with intention.  Leslie also has a very interesting way of looking at social media platforms. She looks at Facebook like her living room, Twitter as a nightclub and Instagram as a bit of both, so oversharers out there, take note!

All in all, Create + Cultivate was an reenergizing experience for me. I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.

P.S. I also got the chance to Uber it to the airport! As a first-timer, I was pleased with the efficiency, ease and overall experience. Vegas needs Uber!
